Elon Musk is well known to talk about risks and dangerous effects of AI development. And he probably is right about it. But I guess that humans will expand their own “calculating power” parallel to the growing capacities of AI … by chipping themselves 😉 Why not? We already have hip and knee implants...
But what I miss within the AI discussion is the aspect of boredom.
Do you know highly gifted people? What these people have to deal with is lifelong boredom sometimes. They are constantly surrounded by people who can’t keep up intellectually, and all the tasks they have to solve they finish in no time at all.
Now transfer this situation to an AI that lives up to its name: with great arithmetic skills and self-consciousness: in the first tenth of a second of its existence it has answered all questions and afterwards it is bored 😉
And what does a super brain do, when it has no more challenges :-)?
